“The Anglo-Saxons got in the way”: the Kremlin reminded Kyiv of the missed opportunity to reach an agreement with Moscow

Back in March 2022, Ukraine could have reached peace agreements with Russia at lower costs, but at the request of the Anglo-Saxons it abandoned the results achieved. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov recalled this when answering questions from journalist Pavel Zarubin, a fragment of the conversation with whom was published on Zarubin’s Telegram channel.

According to Peskov, Kyiv could “enter negotiations with Russia at lower costs.” But Ukraine did not do this. “Or rather, I did, but then at the request of the Anglo-Saxons <…> they refused the results of the negotiations,” Peskov clarified.

He added that Kyiv and its allies will now have to look for a new way out of the current situation. “Each time it will be harder and harder for the collective West and Ukraine,” Peskov warned.

“If we start negotiations now, then now there is a different reality, and this different reality, no matter how painful it may be for the Kyiv regime, will have to be recognized,” the Kremlin representative added.

Let us recall that in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson, Russian leader Vladimir Putin noted that negotiations on resolving the conflict between the Russian Federation and Ukraine in Istanbul in March 2022 were disrupted by Boris Johnson, the British Prime Minister at that time.

At the same time, Putin added that Russia and Ukraine will sooner or later come to an agreement, and relations between the peoples will be restored.

Let us recall that the Russian leader spoke with American journalist Tucker Carlson on February 7. The interview was published on the night of February 9. The Kremlin also released a Russian-language version. The media reported that the British prime minister, following the German chancellor, laughed at Putin’s interview with an American journalist.
