Karting champion Kirill Kutskov rose to fifth place in the overall standings in the Formula 4 races

The second round of Saudi Arabian Formula 4 took place at the Kuwait Motor Town circuit on Saturday. One of the participants in the competition was the world karting champion in the OK category, Kirill Kutskov. The Russian scored his first open-wheel podium in the first round and was now close to repeating the success in the second weekend.

Kutskov was forced to miss part of the training due to a crack in the monocoque. Nevertheless, he showed the second time in qualifying, losing only to the more experienced Suleiman Zanfari. However, in the race itself, the Russian failed to retain second place: a hitch at the start, coupled with a fine for violating the boundaries of the track, dropped the driver to seventh place in the final classification. The second race was also not successful: already on the first lap, Oscar Wurz crashed into Kutskov, who was trying to catch the car after a mistake and flew into Kirill’s car at full speed.

In the third race, Kutskov started ninth, but quickly gained three positions and finished in sixth place. In the final race, Kirill started third and fought for a place on the podium, but lost slightly to Federico Al-Rifai and ultimately remained one step away from the top three – in fourth position.

The leader in the overall standings based on the results of two stages is the Serbian pilot Andrej Petrovich, who won the final race of the weekend. Suleiman Zanfari is behind him by two points, and Federico Al-Rifai completes the top 3. Kirill Kutskov rose to fifth place in the overall standings after two stages.

The third round of the Saudi F4 will take place from March 14 to 16 at the Lusail International Circuit in Qatar.
