Russian Vladislav Lomko leads the final stages of the Asian Le Mans Series

The Asian Le Mans Series (ALMS), one of the region’s most prestigious endurance racing competitions, ends its season this weekend in Abu Dhabi. For the second year in a row, one of the championship participants is Russian Vladislav Lomko. The first Abu Dhabi 4 Hours race took place on Saturday, and on Sunday the final race of the 2023/24 season awaits the participants.

After a setback in Dubai, when the Cool Racing No. 47 crew retired due to a collapse in the first turn, the Swiss team hoped to make up for it in Abu Dhabi, but bad luck continues to haunt Vladislav Lomko and his teammates.

Alexandre Coigny started the race behind the wheel of the prototype. The Swiss made his way to seventh position, but at the end of the first hour he returned to the pits with a broken wheel and a damaged rear part of the car. Mechanics replaced the rear wing and restored the car as much as possible, but the crew continued the race in last place in the LMP2 standings.

In the middle of the race, Lorenzo Fluxa took the wheel, and an hour and a half before the finish he was replaced by Vladislav Lomko. The Russian entered the track 12th in his class and could have fought back through strategy, but just twenty minutes later there was a collision between Riccardo Pera’s Ferrari 296 GT3 and Ben Tuck’s Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3. One of the cars was thrown into barriers at high speed, which were damaged by the impact. To restore the barriers, the race was stopped for 40 minutes with red flags.

As a result, shortly after the restart, Lomko made his final pit stop and finished the race in 12th overall position.

The victory in the final round of pit stops was snatched by the CrowdStrike Racing by APR No. 4 crew of George Kurtz, Colin Brown and Malte Jacobsen. Second place went to AF Corse No. 83 (François Perrodo, Mathieu Vaxivière and Alessio Rovera), while the bottom step of the podium was occupied by DKR Engineering No. 3 (Alexander Mattschull, Tom Dielmann and Laurents Herr).

The ALMS finals start on Sunday, February 11, at 15:00 Moscow time.
