A third heritage house collapsed in the urban center of Zaruma

The sounds of the cracking of wood and walls announced that a third heritage home, owned by the Guzmán Zambrano family of the Zaruma canton, was about to collapse, something that happened between 10:00 and 10:20 this Saturday. Several people in the surroundings registered this event through videos that were circulated on social networks.

The two-story house dragged the walls of a fourth house at the intersection of Colón, Ernesto Castro and 9 de Octubre streets.

“Loud sounds were heard on the walls, inside the houses it was terrible when we were taking things out,” said Daniela González, one of the young residents who took out the belongings from the houses near the sinkhole.

Since last Wednesday night the sinkhole continues to expand and little by little the walls of the buildings that are around are falling, the owners of the properties believe that it will not only be the three houses, but that the entire sector will be lost.

The collapse of this house that was already at risk happened while the evacuations of the belongings of the families that were evicted since last Wednesday continued, the restrictions will be extended in the next few hours, announced the military who were in charge of controlling access to the “Zone 0”.
