Selected participants will have the opportunity to undergo training and create scripts for their first feature films. Famous domestic filmmakers will help them. According to properm.ru, the laboratory accepts directors with experience in creating documentaries or short films, but who have not yet made a full-length film. They can, either independently or together with screenwriters, apply for participation in the training program until March 31, 2024.
In early May, a shortlist of 30 main applicants for participation in the laboratory will be compiled, and the final list will be presented in mid-May.
As part of the training, participants will have to undergo three face-to-face sessions with masters, lecturers and curators at the Lenfilm film studio. There is no need to pay for this. Moreover, the organizers will pay for participants’ travel and accommodation in St. Petersburg during the seminars.
At the end of the program there will be a pitching session where participants will present their stories that they want to film. The works will be evaluated by representatives of the film industry – producers, representatives of film companies and film support funds, and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. One of the interested parties will be the Lenfilm film studio itself. Last year, she already took on the project “Fireworks in the Afternoon” by debutant director Nina Volova and is preparing to present it to the commission of the Ministry of Culture. This time the film studio also intends to take on one of the projects.
As Lenfilm director Fyodor Shcherbakov said, supporting young filmmakers remains a priority for the film studio.
