Heir to the British throne Prince William may take over some of the public responsibilities of his reigning monarch father Charles III.
As the British television channel Sky News reports, while we are talking only about public activities, the king, who was recently diagnosed with cancer, will continue to deal with state affairs himself. According to the TV channel, additional responsibilities of the king during his treatment may be distributed to other high-ranking members of the royal family.
It is noted that the monarch will continue traditional meetings with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, but it is assumed that they will now be held remotely.
According to The Times newspaper, Prince William was planning a short “vacation” to care for his wife, Princess Kate of Wales, who recently underwent abdominal surgery, but is forced to return to his public duties ahead of schedule, as well as to replace his father, the king, at some events.
Earlier, Buckingham Palace announced the discovery of cancer in 75-year-old King Charles III and assured that the disease would not affect the ceremonies, but warned that the monarch was advised to refrain from public events.
