The third stage of the Asian Le Mans Series (ALMS) of the 2023/24 season took place at the Dubai Autodrome. One of the participants in the competition was Russian Vladislav Lomko – he competed in Cool Racing crew No. 47.
Lomko already participated in this series last season, but then he represented the Spanish team CD Sport. This season, “4 Hours of Dubai” was his first performance.
In free practice, Cool Racing demonstrated good speed, and in the second practice session Lomko became the best driver – he completed his best lap faster than teammates Lorenzo Fluxa and Alexandre Coigny.
In qualifying, the crew was in ninth position among 19 participants – against the backdrop of high speed over long stretches, Cool Racing still had good chances to take a place on the podium. However, the Swiss team was unlucky already in the first turn: Alexandre Coigny, who was scheduled to drive the first segment, made contact with Miro Konopka from the ARC Bratislava crew, after which two more rivals crashed into the spinning prototype No. 47. No one involved in the incident was injured, and Coigny managed to get to the pits, however, the car was too badly damaged to continue the race. The crew was forced to withdraw from the race.
The victory in the race, withstanding pressure from Proton Competition, was won by the 99 Racing crew consisting of ex-Formula 1 driver Nikita Mazepin, as well as Ahmad Al-Harthi and Louis Deletraz. In the LMP3 class, a Russian also rose to the top level – Alexander Bukhantsov and James Winslow from the Cool Racing team were the first.
Among the GT category crews, there was no equal to the crew of the Belarusian Alexander Malykhin, who, together with Klaus Bachler and Joel Sturm, competed for Pure Rxcing. Four Russians also competed in this event, but the crew of Alexey Nesov, Sergei Titarenko and Ilya Gorbatsky were 31 laps behind the winners and finished 17th, while Andrey Mukovoz and his teammates were in 20th place.
The ALMS season will conclude on February 10-11, when the final two races of the championship will take place at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.
