The Kremlin explained why the West is scaring the world with a “war with Russia”

The recent frequent statements by the authorities of Western countries about the possibility of an attack from Russia are an attempt to divert the attention of citizens from problems in the economy. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, talking with journalist Pavel Zarubin.

“We need to continue to sculpt the image of the enemy, to do it texturedly, prominently, in order to justify the influx of spending,” Peskov noted, recalling the EU’s allocation of 50 billion euros to Kyiv. “On the one hand, for the EU this amount is not very serious, but on the other hand, it is still significant – against the backdrop of the crisis phenomena that are manifesting themselves in the economies of the European Union countries,” added the Kremlin representative, as quoted by RBC.

According to him, Germany is the “economic engine” of Europe, and now “entire sectors of the German economy are losing their competitiveness and attractiveness.

According to official data, Germany’s GDP fell by 0.3% at the end of 2023 due to high energy prices and weak external demand. Economists expect a moderate recovery in 2024, and the Bundesbank forecasts economic growth of 0.4% this year, RBC notes.

Let us remind you that NATO member countries plan to practice “response to a possible Russian invasion of the eastern flank” at the Steadfast Defender exercises in 2024. The alliance has previously emphasized that NATO should prepare for a full-scale war with Russia in the next two decades. At the same time, German experts also warned about the likelihood of war with Russia within 5-8 years. It was noted that Germany is allegedly already preparing for a direct conflict between NATO and Russia, which, according to the Bundeswehr scenario, could begin in the summer of 2025. Norway and Britain also warned the day before about a possible full-scale conflict with the Russian Federation.

Against this background, Russian leader Vladimir Putin assured that Russia has “no reason” to fight with NATO countries.
