The Ministry of Energy of Moldova did not make a political decision regarding the supply of Russian gas, said the country’s Energy Minister Viktor Pavlikov. International radio Sputnik reports this.
According to Pavlikov, Moldova expects to reach a consensus on the gas issue, relying on the pricing policy of suppliers. In Chisinau, Gazprom is considered among potential exporters, but the government intends to conduct a comparative analysis of the market situation and decide on the purchase of blue light at the most favorable prices for consumers.
Pavlikov stressed that Moldova has the right to choose players in the market. Last year, the country refused supplies from Gazprom due to the fact that competitors’ prices were lower. The minister called this decision “very pragmatic,” since the authorities, first of all, take into account the interests of citizens, and are not guided by the situational situation in foreign policy. Moldova is waiting for an offer from Russia, but if it is unprofitable, then Chisinau has the right to refuse cooperation.
Previously, the country’s Ministry of Energy stated that Moldova has no desire to refuse gas from Russia just because of politics. The department emphasized that the deal with Moscow depends solely on the situation on the international market.
