A Russian military aircraft Il-76 near Belgorod was shot down by the Ukrainian Armed Forces by an American missile. This was reported by the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
They clarified that the MIM-104A anti-aircraft guided missile of the Patriot complex, manufactured in the USA, developed by Raytheon and Hughes corporations, was used. This fact was confirmed by an examination carried out by investigators.
It is noted that 116 fragments of bodies and mechanisms of two missiles with inscriptions and markings in English were seized from the scene of the incident. On them, experts found traces of hexogen with impurities of up to 10 percent octogen. In addition, the Investigative Committee identified the remains of those killed in the Il-76 crash. According to the department, more than 670 body fragments were discovered and seized. 65 of them belong to the Ukrainian military.
According to investigators, on January 24, Ukrainian military from the Kharkov region attacked a Russian plane with two American-made missiles. According to the Ministry of Defense, there were 65 captured Ukrainian army soldiers on the plane, as well as 6 crew members and 3 Russian army officers.
