Eggs in Russia have begun to become cheaper. However, so far the average retail price for a dozen has decreased by 1.5 percent and amounted to 131.62 rubles, reports Rusprodsoyuz.
Georgiy Ostapkovich, director of the Center for Market Research at the Institute of Statistical Research and Economics of Knowledge at the National Research University Higher School of Economics, said what this is connected with and whether the fall in prices will continue, writes “Evening Moscow”. According to him, the decrease in demand for eggs after the New Year contributed to a decrease in the price of this product.
The rush demand has stopped; in addition, imports from other countries are currently functioning: Turkey, Azerbaijan and China, which has a positive effect on eliminating the deficit.
The expert noted that the price of eggs will continue to fall, but, in his opinion, one should not expect it to drop to 80 rubles.
Let us remind you that last year the prices for eggs in the Russian Federation increased sharply. In December, even the country’s President Vladimir Putin had to apologize for the sharp increase in the cost of this product. According to him, there was a “glitch in the government,” which led to a 40% increase in prices. Putin linked the price change to an increase in demand for products, while production volume remained the same. He promised to look into the problem and resolve the issue of egg consumption, because “he himself eats scrambled eggs with pleasure.”
