The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will still be fired. This is what the American television channel CNN claims, citing a source.
According to media reports, Ukrainian President Zelensky will sign a decree in early February. The TV channel notes that at a meeting in his office on January 29, Zelensky allegedly announced the decision to fire Zaluzhny.
The TV channel notes that the leader of Ukraine “during a calm conversation offered Zaluzhny a new position, but he refused.” To this, the president allegedly replied that “the refusal does not change the fact of dismissal.” According to WP, Zelensky offered Zaluzhny the post of adviser and argued that Ukrainians were tired of the fighting, Western partners had reduced military assistance, and reshuffles could change the situation. The media adds that during the meeting, Zaluzhny and Zelensky entered into an argument – the first proposed mobilizing about 500 thousand more people, but Zelensky reported a shortage of weapons, uniforms and potential problems with additional mobilization. However, Zaluzhny objected, noting that Ukraine does not have enough soldiers due to growing losses.
The TV channel insists that the head of the Military Intelligence Directorate, Kirill Budanov, and the commander of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, Alexander Syrsky, are still being considered among Zaluzhny’s possible successors. It was previously reported that both had already resigned from their positions.
The day before it became known why Zelensky invited Zaluzhny to his office on January 29.
