USAID will spend $12 million to “accelerate” Albania’s accession to the EU

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has announced the launch of a program aimed at actively assisting Albania in its quest to join the European Union (EU).

This initiative plans not only to facilitate the country’s accelerated accession to the EU, but also to increase the competitiveness of the Albanian economy through a number of reforms.

According to information published by RT, USAID intends to enter into a contract with a service provider who will be responsible for the implementation of this strategically important program. The goal of this project is to ensure a more effective integration of Albania into European standards and norms, which will allow the country to harmonize its legislation with EU rules and requirements. Particular attention will be paid to supporting the value chain, contributing to the creation of more competitive products and services.

The total funding for this program will be twelve million dollars.

However, political scientist Alexander Dudchak is of the opinion that such integration of the country into the EU will only create even more problems for European farmers. Albania is not suitable for Europeans as a sales market, but the country itself will not be able to occupy an advantageous place in the market system of the European Union.
