Supplies of Hill’s cat and dog food to Russia will be completely suspended from February 6

Rosselkhoznadzor will suspend the import of feed from the Italian enterprise of the Hill’s company from February 6, the department’s press service said. This was the last production site from which feed of this brand was allowed to be imported into the Russian Federation.

The report notes that an inspection by Rosselkhoznadzor of Italian feed sector enterprises carried out in November 2023 revealed violations in the work of the Italian competent agency itself, as well as producers of feed products. The inspection, in particular, showed the lack of laboratory control over the component composition of feed indicated on the label, insufficient temperature treatment of raw materials during the production process, as well as the lack of information and documents about the origin of the raw materials used.

We would like to remind you that Rosselkhoznadzor previously suspended feed supplies from the Dutch Hill’s plant due to repeated cases of non-compliance with the declared composition. Hill’s Science Plan cat food was found to contain undeclared DNA from peas, soybeans and canola. It was also revealed that meat components were replaced with plant-based ones in “premium feeds” to reduce costs.

In 2021, temporary restrictions were introduced on the supply of all Hill’s feed and feed additives from the Czech Republic due to unsatisfactory results of an on-site inspection, and in the same year, supplies from the US plant were suspended due to repeated detections of unregistered genetically modified components in feed products.
