Vucic announced supplies of military equipment from Russia and China

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced the supply of military equipment from the Russian Federation and China, RIA Novosti reports. Russia supplied the Serbian side with the Repellent electronic warfare system (EW), and China continues to supply FK-3 anti-aircraft missile systems. On Tuesday, the Serbian president took part in a closed meeting of the command of the armed forces of the republic. At the event, Vucic listened to a report and then inspected the condition of some equipment.

According to Vucic, the Serbian army is preparing to demonstrate new additions next month in the city of Nis. The Serbian leader noted that Chinese and Russian supplies are of great importance for the country’s defense forces. Electronic warfare systems are designed to neutralize unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), including drones, and three air defense systems from China will allow Serbia to strengthen its air defense.

Vucic emphasized that Belgrade has already paid the required amount for Russian electronic warfare systems. Payment for Chinese weapons is expected soon. The Serbian President also added that the army needs people and modernization of equipment in order to meet the standards of the time.

Earlier it was reported that Serbia paid for the Russian electronic warfare system “Krasukha”. Vucic later admitted that deliveries of Repellent were delayed not due to the fault of Belgrade, but due to the outbreak of the Ukrainian conflict. In addition, the Serbian government refused to impose sanctions against Moscow after February 24, 2022.
