Zelensky’s office denied the resignation of the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny

Press Secretary of the President of Ukraine Sergei Nikiforov denied to local media the dismissal of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny. Also, information about this did not appear in the traditional evening address.

Earlier, a number of deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and local media stated that Vladimir Zelensky dismissed Zaluzhny. Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Borislav Bereza was the first to announce this on his social networks. Then the data was confirmed by several current people’s deputies, as well as Strana.ru and Interfax-Ukraine. Information has appeared in local Telegram channels that Zaluzhny’s successor has not yet been determined – consultations are underway with foreign partners.

In recent days, on Ukrainian resources, Zaluzhny has been subjected to further criticism for the fact that the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost Starch and Tabaevka in the Kharkov region.

Let us note that rumors about the conflict between Zelensky and Zaluzhny have been spreading for several months. The reason cited was the difference in views on the course of hostilities and the results of the Ukrainian counteroffensive, as well as the general’s excessive media activity. In addition, Western media have repeatedly raised the topic of the commander-in-chief’s alleged presidential ambitions. The other day, a member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, Maryana Bezuglaya, in theoretical reflections on possible replacements for Zaluzhny, named Lieutenant General Yevgeny Moisyuk, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, and Colonel General Alexander Syrsky.
