Prosecutor Suárez was the victim this year, but in 2023 there were other fatal attacks: Guayas prosecutor Leonardo Palacios was killed in June, and Babahoya prosecutor Genaro Reascos was killed in October.

And the state prosecutor, Diana Salazar, reported that she was threatened with death, but the person who was taken into custody escaped.
It is only a request that the Prosecutor’s Office directs to the prosecuting forces to guarantee the safety of the staff working in the institution at the national level. The state needs investigations to be carried out transparently and fairly so that there is real access to justice and those who commit to it should feel supported by the state.
The State Attorney’s Office is waiting for the Government’s response regarding life insurance
Prosecutor Salazar revealed in her work report on January 25 that she is still waiting for a response from the Ministry of Labor regarding the rulebook that regulates the contracting of life insurance for high-risk employees of that institution.
