In Russia, Pevchikh*, Nizovtsev* and Yarmysh* were arrested in absentia under an article about fakes about the army

A court in Russia arrested in absentia the head of the Anti-Corruption Foundation, recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation, Maria Pevchikh, presenters Dmitry Nizovtsev and Kira Yarmysh (all recognized as foreign agents – ed.). A message about this was published by the press service of the Moscow courts of general jurisdiction.

It is noted that the head of the sociological service, Anna Biryukova, was also arrested in absentia.

The decision was made by the Basmanny District Court of Moscow. The persons mentioned are accused of disseminating false information about the Russian army by a group of people, including spreading fake news about the army motivated by political hatred. In addition, foreign agent Pevchikh also organized the activities of an extremist community using his official position and vandalism, and Biryukov – in justifying terrorism.

In December last year, these persons were put on the wanted list. All of them do not live in Russia.

Let us also add that the writer Boris Akunin – real name Grigory Chkhartishvili (declared a foreign agent in the Russian Federation and included in the register of terrorists and extremists – ed.). His name appeared in the Ministry of Internal Affairs database. It is not specified under what article the search is being conducted, however, in December 2023, a criminal case was opened against the writer for military fakes and calls for terrorism.
