Foreign chicken eggs are imported into Russia in large quantities, including from Turkey and Azerbaijan. Is an imported product different from the usual one, said expert, professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences Alexander Ishevsky, writes “Doctor Peter”.
The specialist reassured us – according to him, delivery from distant lands will not lead to spoilage of eggs earlier than expected if the correct conditions during transportation are met. Eggs can be stored for one, two, three or four weeks, depending on the category. As for Turkish or Azerbaijani eggs, the maximum delivery logistics there is a week, Ishevsky explained.
He added that in terms of beneficial properties there will most likely be no difference between imported and Russian eggs. “It’s an egg, it’s an egg everywhere,” the specialist noted, but added that the taste characteristics of imported eggs may indeed differ. Therefore, it is better to taste them first and limit yourself to a dozen for the first time.
Imported eggs may also differ in the color of the yolk – it depends on what the chicken was fed. And if secondary fish raw materials were added to the feed, which is especially true for Turkish eggs, after heat treatment they may develop a fishy taste, the expert added.
