Sex is dangerous. This frightening statement was made by sexologist Tracey Cox, writes the Daily Mail.
The specialist noted that it is important for every person to know about potential risks and reduce them as much as possible.
First, according to Cox, oral sex can cause cancer, and it’s no joke. The expert noted that there is currently a rapid increase in a specific type of throat cancer: oropharyngeal cancer, and the main cause is the human papillomavirus (HPV), a sexually transmitted infection. According to the expert, six or more partners in oral sex increase the likelihood of developing this disease by 8.5 times in those who practice it, compared to those who are not into this type of sex.
In addition, the sex that a person is having now may jeopardize relationships with other future partners due to another misfortune. Most sexually transmitted infections can be cured with antibiotics, but herpes isn’t – it’s lifelong. The scary thing is that most people have no symptoms of this virus or only mild symptoms that they do not recognize.
Another danger is that sex can make a person infertile. The reason is still the same – STIs. So, for example, a very common infection, chlamydia, if left untreated, can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease, ectopic pregnancy and infertility.
The fourth danger, according to the expert, is unplanned pregnancy. Moreover, just one sexual contact can radically change your life. And although termination of pregnancy or abortion is now available, they are not always a way out, and many women prefer not to risk it and keep the child, which changes their lives forever.
Finally, you can die because of sex – in the literal sense of the word – active sex can increase the risk of a heart attack, the specialist noted. She cited a 2011 study that found sex nearly triples the risk of a heart attack.
