British cardiologist Newby identified an unexpected sign of heart problems

Renowned British cardiologist John Newby presented an innovative method for assessing heart health, reports the British Heart Foundation.

Doctors conducted a study that revealed a connection between the functionality of the heart and the condition of the patients’ lower extremities.

The technique was based on the understanding that the heart, which is the central blood pump, during normal operation ensures a uniform blood supply to the entire body. In this case, arrhythmia or structural defects lead to disruption of this system, which, in particular, affects the lower extremities, leading to changes.

Researchers have found that in people with a normally functioning cardiovascular system, the legs have normal color and temperature, there is no swelling, and pulsation is clearly visible. Meanwhile, the presence of puffiness, redness and swelling indicate insufficient blood circulation, and therefore a disruption of the cardiac system.

This conclusion from specialists makes it possible to recognize problems at an early stage – before more serious signs of heart problems appear, which will have a beneficial effect on the prevention and treatment of diseases.
