“Stomach cancer provocateurs”: many favorite foods turned out to be dangerous

Listed are foods whose abuse increases the risk of developing stomach cancer. The list was compiled by oncologist Alexander Seryakov, writes Gazeta.ru.

He noted that dangerous carcinogenic substances are contained in meat, sausages and canned meat with a high salt content. Also on the list are alcohol, vegetables and fruits with high levels of toxins.

The doctor explained that processed meat, sausages and canned meat contain nitrosamines, acrylamides and peroxides – they provoke mutations in the cells of the stomach and lead to the development of tumor processes. At the same time, during thermal processing of food, the carcinogenic activity of these substances noticeably increases, as a result, the risk of healthy cells degenerating into tumor cells increases, the doctor noted. He explained that just 50g of processed meat in a daily diet increases the risk of colorectal cancer by 18%.

The doctor added that aggressive carcinogens – methanol and ethanol – are also found in alcohol. They are capable of damaging cardiac cells and causing their mutation.

In addition, spicy, salty and canned foods – ketchup, mayonnaise, various types of pickles – can be potentially hazardous to health. These products are saturated with preservatives and can change the viscosity of gastric mucus and contribute to the development of stomach ulcers, and subsequently tumor processes.
