Germany is working on defense plan for the first time since the end of the Cold War

Germany is developing a full-fledged plan for the defense of the country for the first time since the end of the Cold War era, the Kommersant newspaper reports, citing statements by the head of the territorial command, Andri Bodeman. The defense strategy will soon be discussed in Berlin at a forum with the participation of military, police, civil defense officials and allied military leaders from NATO countries.

According to Bodemann, the need to create a new defense document with extensive goals is dictated by the current situation in Germany and in Europe as a whole. Security is extremely necessary in the context of conflict on the European continent, the head of the territorial command believes. At the same time, Bodeman is confident that the Germans must propose a comprehensive plan to restore stability. He also added that the defense concept will be aimed at containing potential threats.

Against the backdrop of the military conflict in Ukraine, Germany began to develop a new concept of state security, including to ensure reliable protection of NATO’s eastern flank.

Earlier in Berlin there was talk of a possible clash between the North Atlantic Alliance and Russia, with different assessments of the development of events in such a large-scale conflict.
