TASS: It will be possible to identify the victims of the Il-76 crash only after DNA analysis

To identify all victims of the Il-76 military plane crash in the Belgorod region, DNA materials from relatives will be required, TASS reports. The bodies of the dead are almost impossible to identify, so experts need to obtain DNA samples from loved ones, Russian operational services explained.

According to emergency services workers, to clarify the identities of the victims who were on board the Il-76 aircraft, it will be necessary to compare their DNA with samples from one of their relatives. To do this, the Ukrainian side must carry out the procedure for collecting DNA material and make a request to transfer the research results to Russia.

At the same time, the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine stated that they could not confirm or deny the presence of Ukrainian citizens on board the crashed plane. The department emphasized that they do not yet have complete data for any unambiguous statements.

The Russian side believes that in order to identify the bodies of the dead using a DNA test, Kyiv will have to admit that there were Ukrainian military personnel on board.

The Il-76 plane crashed on January 24 in the Belgorod region. Ukraine denies involvement in the attack on the military aircraft. In Moscow, at the same time, they announce an attack on the Il-76 with missiles that are in service with the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
