The State Duma revealed details of a new bill aimed at speeding up the procedure for blocking “mirrors” of pirate sites. In a conversation with RT, a parliamentary representative explained that this amendment is of a formal nature and is associated with the redistribution of powers in the field of blocking Internet resources.
Previously, the authority to block websites belonged to the Ministry of Digital Development, but in practice this task is handled by Roskomnadzor. In this regard, legislators decided to clarify and simplify the blocking procedure, making it faster and devoid of a judicial component. This will avoid overloading the prosecutor’s office and other departments.
The deputy chairman of the committee emphasized that this initiative is aimed at improving security on the Internet. He admitted that the Internet is a complex and dynamic environment, and it is impossible to completely protect the user in it. However, according to him, steps taken, such as simplifying the procedure for blocking “mirrors” of pirated sites, help improve the situation and contribute to the fight against illegal content on the Internet.
Let us remind you that other areas are also being improved in Russia, in particular the environmental sector. Thus, in Norilsk, there is a sulfur program.
