In Korolev, a mother and five children suffered carbon monoxide poisoning

In the town of Korolev near Moscow, a woman and her five children were poisoned by carbon monoxide, reports the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Moscow Region. Law enforcement agencies are checking and inspecting the apartment where the family was staying. According to preliminary data, the cause of the poisoning was a malfunction of the gas water heater. The inspection is carried out by the Mytishchi department of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Russian Investigative Committee for the Moscow region.

According to the victim’s husband, while preparing dinner, she constantly turned the speaker on and off, trying to eliminate the malfunction. However, at some point the woman felt unwell. Then the condition of three daughters and two sons aged from 1 to 12 years worsened. The family was admitted to the hospital. Now the woman and children feel well. Their life and health are not in danger.

Gas service workers, when inspecting the home, also confirmed that the water heater was not functioning properly. After the relevant measures have been taken, the Investigative Committee will decide on further actions.

Earlier in Dagestan, 9 people were also poisoned by carbon monoxide; among the victims was a child born in 2017. During the inspection, it was discovered that there were violations in the installation of gas equipment in the house.
