The State Duma adopted in the first reading amendments to the bill on punishment for spreading fakes about the Russian army and public calls against state security, TASS reports. The bill will allow the confiscation of property from citizens, including money, valuables and other items that are used to “finance” crimes.
Amendments were introduced by State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin and a number of other deputies. The changes will affect Art. 104.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on confiscation of property. Now it will be possible to lose property not only for desertion, sabotage, treason, working with undesirable organizations, confidential cooperation with international organizations or a foreign state, espionage, illegal border crossing, assistance to foreign countries in the criminal prosecution of Russian government officials, but also for “military fakes” . According to the amendments, Art. 104.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation will be applied together with Art. 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (dissemination of false information about the Russian Army or the National Guard) and Art. 280.4 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public calls for activities against state security).
In addition, to the “public calls” from Art. 280.4 proposes to include statements aimed at inciting political, ideological, religious, national or racial hatred. At the same time, the law does not include specific concepts about what is classified as a particular type of hatred, as follows from the document.
Also in the State Duma they want to deprive them of awards and military ranks not only for the same fakes or calls against the security of the country, but also for calls to extremism, discrediting the RF Armed Forces, assistance in introducing sanctions against government officials, rehabilitation of Nazism and support for international organizations from which Russia left .
