Tremors have been recorded in Krasnodar, the Kommersant newspaper reports, citing the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC). At 14:20 an earthquake occurred in the capital of the Krasnodar Territory, as well as Goryachy Klyuch and the Seversky region. Local residents report minor damage to apartments and mild shaking.
According to seismologists, the depth of the tremors is at least 10 kilometers. In Krasnodar itself, tremors were felt in the Pashkovsky, Festivalny, Gidrostroitelny, Moskovsky microdistricts, as well as on Enka. In the village of Severskaya and the village of Novaya Adygea, residents also complained about underground impulses.
Depending on where they lived, people had to evacuate office buildings. Security measures were taken to avoid casualties. Parents were asked to take their students home from school – the children were very frightened by the underground strikes and asked the teachers to protect them.
EMSC experts talk about an earthquake of magnitude 4. There has been no official data from the authorities on the consequences of the incident yet.
According to seismologists, such earthquakes do not occur very often in the region. Therefore, we should not expect new strong shocks in the coming years.
Let us recall that in May 2023, an earthquake of magnitude 3.6 was recorded in the Krasnodar region. Then we managed to do without casualties. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the source of the seismic event was located approximately 75 kilometers from Sochi in the North-West.
Among other things, in 2023 there were earthquakes of magnitude 5 in Kamchatka. Tremors were recorded near the Shiveluch volcano.
