The head of the Federal Passenger Company, Vladimir Pyastolov, informed the public about what happened before the infamous cat Twix disembarked from the train. The pet was later found dead.
A company representative shared these events at a round table in the State Duma, RTVI writes. He said that five minutes before the train departed from Kirov station on that day, January 11 of this year, passengers of one of the reserved seat cars of the Ekaterinburg – St. Petersburg train complained about a cat walking unattended. One of the conductors took the animal in her arms and turned to the passengers to find its owner, but not a single passenger responded. The conductor did not know who was accompanying Twix, since conductors have no way of identifying the animals being transported. Three cats and one dog were transported in this carriage.
Then the conductor decided to release Twix onto the platform. She suggested that the cat’s owners could be at the station or that the cat had no owners.
It later turned out that the passenger with the carrier was in the sanitary room a few minutes before the train arrived at the station. Then he returned to the carriage and placed the carrier with the animal under the lower bunk. The man went out onto the platform until the train left; the stop lasted 24 minutes.
At the same time, the cat came out of the carrier, as shown by recordings from video cameras in the carriage. It turned out that the actions of the passenger and his pet occurred almost simultaneously, with a difference of only a few seconds.
It is known that the guide, in search of the owner of the animal, passed by the man, but for some reason he did not recognize the pet.
Information about Twix’s disappearance was transmitted to the conductor only 7 hours after the incident.
A few days after the incident, the cat was found dead.
