Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree that, at the federal level, consolidates the unified status of large families and determines measures to support them. The document “On measures of social support for large families” did not appear on the official Internet portal of legal information.
The first paragraph of the new decree states that a large family in the Russian Federation is considered to be a family with three or more children. However, this status is established indefinitely.
According to the decree of the head of state, large families in the Russian Federation are granted the right to receive benefits for children until they reach 18 years of age or 23 years of age in the case of full-time study.
Social support measures also include providing the opportunity for parents with many children to receive additional education, free meals for schoolchildren and travel on public transport, as well as free visits to parks, museums, and exhibitions.
In addition, the decree guarantees assistance to large families in improving their living conditions and benefits for housing and communal services.
Before this, Russian regions could independently determine the criteria for large families.
Let us recall that in December 2023, Putin instructed to establish a unified federal status for large families and approve a uniform list of benefits for the entire country.
