You can run away from stress—in the truest sense of the word. This was stated by psychologist Alexander Volynsky, writes the portal VokrugSveta.
The expert explained that the fastest way to relieve anxiety is to let the body experience what it is preparing for, physically, through movement. Volynsky explained that the body has three natural reactions to stress – fight, run, freeze. The best thing about this is physical activity. They activate areas of the brain responsible for executive function, which helps the brain identify real and imagined threats.
In general, during exercise, the body absorbs the “stress hormone” cortisol and produces “happiness hormones” endorphins, the psychologist added. He urged people who are overcome by anxious thoughts to run.
Starting to play sports is the most difficult thing, so you can and should motivate yourself, for example, choose a nice running uniform, advises Running Community coach Pavel Kondrashev. In his opinion, this can affect self-feeling and mood. The specialist also recommends that you start exercising gradually and do not try to immediately run a long distance. For example, you can alternate between running and fast steps at first, but gradually increase your running time with each workout.
