Expert Shutov said that a hidden camera can be detected using a smartphone

Vasily Shutov, a teacher at the Department of Information Security at the Russian Technological University MIREA, spoke about methods for identifying hidden video cameras using a mobile device. The expert noted that hidden cameras can often be installed in various places, such as shops, hotels or rented apartments, reports aif.ru.

In case of suspicion, Shutov suggests using a smartphone flashlight, since each camera has a lens that can glare when exposed to light. He also emphasized that if the hidden camera has a source of infrared radiation, then you can turn on the smartphone camera. In this case, the IR emitter of the hidden camera will be displayed in red or purple on the screen.

Shutov proposed another method for detecting hidden devices – using special programs to find Wi-Fi signal sources, since it is through wireless networks that the image is transmitted to storage servers.

The idea of using a smartphone to detect hidden video cameras can be useful in certain situations, but it’s worth noting that these methods are not always guaranteed to be 100% accurate. It is important to remember that conducting activities to detect hidden cameras in other people’s places may be illegal and violate the privacy of other people. The expert emphasized the need to comply with laws and ethical standards when conducting such inspections.

If you suspect hidden devices in a location, it is recommended that you seek the help of professionals such as security services or private investigators who can conduct an investigation legally and effectively.
