Dog handler Alexander Malinovsky shared with RT recommendations on the correct behavior of a person when meeting a pack of stray dogs. The specialist noted that each situation is unique, and there is no universal advice that would help avoid tragic incidents.
The specialist emphasized that dogs can differ in size, aggressiveness, motivation, their number can be different, and people have different physical and psychological capabilities. In case of a known danger in advance, Malinovsky recommends changing the travel route, especially for parents who care about the safety of their children.
The dog handler noted that the problem associated with stray dogs should be resolved by the administration of the locality or district.
However, if a meeting with a pack does occur, Malinovsky advises to behave confidently. He warns that you should not run away, as this can provoke aggression in dogs. Instead, you should calmly move away, press yourself against the wall of the house for maximum protection, and use a bag or backpack as protection from an attack. If you have a pepper spray, its use can be an additional means of protection. He also recommends calling for help and, if possible, imitating the predator’s actions to give the impression of confidence.
