Bild: Germany is working on a scenario for war between Russia and NATO

Germany is preparing for a possible scenario in which a military clash between Russia and NATO is possible. The Bild newspaper writes about this.

The media, citing a secret Bundeswehr document, notes that an action plan is being developed in case a “hidden and then open” attack on NATO’s eastern flank begins, after which full-scale military action is possible.

The document outlines a possible “Path to Conflict” between Russia and the North Atlantic Alliance. Likely actions by Russia and the West are being described month by month, culminating in the deployment of hundreds of thousands of NATO troops and the “imminent outbreak of war” in the summer of 2025.

The plan assumes that everything will begin in July 2024, when the Russian Federation is likely to achieve success in Ukraine. The text states that cyberattacks and “other forms of hybrid warfare” from the Russian Federation are likely, mainly in the Baltic countries. Large-scale exercises with Belarus are also possible. The situation may worsen in October if Russia transfers troops and medium-range missiles to Kaliningrad, the publication notes. The media suggests that in December 2024, an artificially provoked “border conflict” will occur in the Suwalki corridor, and Russia will accuse the West of preparing an attack on the country. Further, as described in the scenario, in May 2025, NATO will decide on containment measures, and 300 thousand troops will be transferred to the eastern flank. Afterwards, a collision cannot be ruled out, the newspaper claims.

Previously, Belgium and Sweden called for preparations for a potential conflict with Russia.

At the same time, Moscow has repeatedly rejected plans for a conflict with NATO, noting that it is not Russia that threatens Europe, but vice versa:
