Manta, MANABÍ
A positive case of COVID-19 of a crew member aboard the Silver Moon cruise ship, which will arrive this Friday at the port of Manta, led to the suspension of all planned activities with the travelers and crew of that tourist ship.
This was announced in a brief statement issued by the Manta Port Terminal (TPM), the entity that was in charge of the act of restarting the arrival of cruise ships in this Manabi port, after more than 20 months of suspended activities.
“We inform you that the start of 2021-2022 cruises is canceled, due to presenting a positive case of COVID-19 on board,” said the note issued by TPM, this afternoon.
The ship will arrive in Manta, but only to supply water and food.
This newspaper asked the Ministry of Public Health and the TPM board for more details, but no answers were obtained in this regard until 4:30 p.m. this Thursday.
More than 500 people were known to travel on the Silver Moon cruise ship. Before the contagion of a crew member, the tourists planned to enjoy a day of visit in the city and neighboring towns where handicrafts such as Pile and La Pila are made, in Montecristi.
Another cruise ship that was also scheduled to arrive this month in Manta suspended its arrival at the Manabi port due to restrictions in other Latin American ports, due to the worldwide circulation of the omicron variant of COVID-19.
By 2022, the Manta Port Terminal has confirmed the arrival of six vessels. (I)
