Heavy snowfall is heading for central Russia next week. At the same time, there will be no more 30-degree frosts in the region this winter, said Evgeny Tishkovets, leading specialist at the Phobos weather center.
According to him, Central Russia on Monday, January 15, “will find itself in the warm sector of the cyclone, accompanied by snowfalls of light and moderate intensity.” On Tuesday, January 16, the snowy and mild weather will continue. Tishkovets warned of a cold front on Wednesday, January 17, which will be accompanied by snow and moderate frosts.
The heaviest snowfalls are expected this coming Thursday and Friday. The forecaster noted in his Telegram channel that “thanks to the warm and humid North Atlantic cyclones, 10-15 mm of precipitation will fall.”
Meanwhile, snowfall is forecast only in places over the weekend. In general, 17-22 mm of snow will fall in Moscow over the week, or up to 30-40% of the monthly norm, and snowdrifts in the capital will grow by 5-8 cm. “We are in for mild and snowy winter weather,” the expert concluded.
Earlier, residents of Moscow and St. Petersburg were warned about low atmospheric pressure. In addition, the weather forecaster Leus predicted “Epiphany thaws” in Moscow.
