The teachers’ union refuted theses about reducing paperwork for teachers

The norms proposed by the State Duma of the Russian Federation aimed at reducing paperwork for teachers were assessed by representatives of the Teacher trade union as unrealistic and fantastic.

First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Education Yana Lantratova argued that there are only five mandatory documents for teachers. This is a work program, educational plan, journals on academic performance and extracurricular activities, and characteristics.

However, the organizing secretary of the Teacher trade union, Olga Miryasova, pointed out in an interview with Reedus that these legislative standards do not apply in practice. School management has greater influence on teachers, defining their additional responsibilities through orders and regulations.

For example, teachers may be forced to fill out information about the situation of children in the family, conduct educational work and draw up additional reports. Also, possible emergencies at school require additional reports and measures of influence, which the teacher, in the case of classroom management, has to carry out.

In general, the standards proposed by the Duma cannot take into account all these aspects, so they remain unrealizable and fantastic, Miryasova concluded.
