The situation in the country is described as one of the worst security crises it has experienced in history. Criminal groups that are considered organized crime have taken over part of the state’s powers, or at least a representative part of them. They have key officials in their favor who can make decisions, resolutions and other powers in their favor.
This reality allows organized crime to gain more strength and economic power, even to such extremes as killer schools and areas designated for the training of personnel who will be part of criminal groups. They are attracted to children, young people and the population up to the age of 20 who are unemployed, in extreme poverty or in situations of mental disorders. Various scientific studies show that the relationship between poverty, problems inherited from dysfunctional homes and lack of opportunities leads to 90% of people between the ages of 10 and 22 engaging in criminal activities as they are influenced by these variables.
The country is experiencing the anger of several thousand young people, who follow the orders of those who profit from them, criminal bosses who are often not in the country, but who issue orders from abroad and promote feelings of inequality, hatred, among others, many young people who commit attacks. It is time to fight the problem as the central government does, with activities aimed at deterring and preventing organized groups from taking more power than they have.
However, it is also important to strengthen the mentality of the country’s children, those who attend schools and then eventually drop out. These children and young people must know that there are other ways that keep them away from violence, and even though the state has gone down the wrong path, they can always look for alternatives so that they do not become part of criminal groups. It is important that the younger population can visualize a change in the course of the authorities that govern the destiny of the country, with the inclusion of employment, the reduction of social and economic inequality and other aspects that feed this feeling of inequality among Ecuadorians.
The contact of contaminated people with the rest of society must be cut off at the root, so that they do not act or direct their groups in this way, but to a greater extent so that they do not influence good people, that is, those who have not yet formed their personalities and because of of their living conditions, they join these gangs. This call is not addressed only to governments, but to people, businessmen, officials, who, based on good example and performance, must begin to form a new generation, which is not based on resentment of inequality and inequality. A dream generation, with opportunities and tools to be good human beings. (OR)
