Preventive detention for four of the six arrested for the kidnapping of the daughter of alias ‘Fito’ and her friend

Four of the six people who were arrested on suspicion of their participation in the kidnapping of two young people in Manta, on November 17, a Manabí judge ordered preventive detention.

After the hearing to formulate charges, two people were excluded from this open investigation for the alleged crime of kidnapping –as co-perpetrators– typified in article 161 of the Comprehensive Organic Criminal Code (COIP).

For the other four, the process continues and if the complaint against them is confirmed, they could receive a penalty of deprivation of liberty of five to seven years.

Judge César Ponce Silva, from the Manta Criminal Judicial Unit, ordered the preventive detention of Juan Carlos GB, Elvis Stuard GB (of Ecuadorian nationality), Jeison Javier Ch. L. and José Rodolfo RR (of Venezuelan nationality, in accordance with police).

During the proceedings, the prosecutor Rubén Balda presented some elements of conviction such as testimonies, the investigative report of the case and the police report.

During the taking of versions, two of them admitted their responsibility in the crime of kidnapping the two women, one of them the daughter of Adolfo M., alias Earn, considered the leader of the criminal group Los Choneros. Meanwhile, the other two defendants availed themselves of the right to silence.

The kidnapped girls were abandoned by their captors on the night of Sunday, November 21, safe and sound, without receiving any attacks, as confirmed by Michelle M., daughter of aliases Earn.

The detainees were transferred to the El Rodeo prison in Portoviejo.

Also within the hearing for the formulation of charges, protection measures were ordered in favor of the victims and their environment, to prevent the defendants from approaching people linked to the process, witnesses and certain people to carry out acts of persecution or intimidation of the victim. victim or members of the family nucleus.
