Ecuador is at war. Internal war. With myself. It is a disastrous consequence of organized crime (foreign, quite well organized, coordinated with internal) that penetrates into the heart of the state: FF. AA., Police, courts, prosecutor’s offices, journalism and politics.
Police and military operations continue in the country after yesterday’s day of violence
What is the common denominator of the bad elements that allowed themselves to infiltrate these institutions and the criminal profile that tarnished them? The answer lies in the love of easy money. Greed. Force. The leaked chats in the case of Metastasis show this: the uncontrolled love of easy money and excessive accumulation is accompanied by a complete contempt for life shown by these actors and criminal groups.
Daniel Noboa: ‘Judges and prosecutors who help terrorists will also be considered part or members of a terrorist network’
They won’t have a day left to spend all their ill-gotten gains, and they dream of adding another zero to their bank accounts. High minds, but in the end they serve the destructive side of society; vile planners how to steal the people’s sacred money, to fill their accounts. The obsession with always having more. To have, more than to be.
Our contribution will be to restore trust in institutions that also show a willingness to re-establish themselves.
Disdain for human life ranks us in the first places of the most violent countries in the world, according to statistics collected at the end of last year. And they “raised the statistics of violent deaths” in a gruesome record on the first day of 2024. And the worst impression – apart from the pain of the bereaved – is the naturalization of bloody events abundantly distributed by digital chains.
Peace for Ecuador
For example, little or no one is hurt or outraged by what is considered the worst crime to ever befall an Ecuadorian family: four children between 5 months and 7 years old, and their pregnant mother, were shot dead last December in a home in Guayaquil. And we didn’t find out more. Is there a greater sign of contempt for life than this, which took longer to become sensational news than to disappear from public media discussion?
But also, there will always be a light at the end of the tunnel, and now that we are all involved in this internal war, it will be better to get out of our comfort zones to join forces and for this battle to find us united as Ecuadorians. We have already passed the point of no return; We are at the cruelest depth, and we will emerge from it only united, with the inalienable awareness that there are more of us good people.
The curfew in Ecuador has not changed
Our contribution will be to restore trust in institutions that also show a willingness to re-establish themselves. The collective consciousness manifested itself in support of its FF. AA. and the police; but when we reach that light at the end of the tunnel, your task must continue to clean up the contaminated elements. Politics and politicians must behave with dignity and justify the trust of citizens. Courts must be freed from corruption and political-party dependencies. And journalism… well, it should crow less and mediate more. This will be the best confirmation with your audience.
It won’t be easy, but it won’t be impossible either. Those of us who were lucky enough to live on the “island of peace” know that this is the path we must return to. (OR)
