Russian authorities will be able to impose sanctions against any foreigners

The State Duma adopted in the first reading a bill allowing the Russian authorities to include in the sanctions lists any foreigners and stateless persons, and not just, as it is now, US citizens. This was reported by a Rosbalt correspondent.

Foreigners involved in violations of fundamental human rights and freedoms, rights and freedoms of citizens of the Russian Federation will fall under Russian sanctions. The sanctions measures include: a ban on entry to Russia; arrest on the territory of the Russian Federation of financial and other assets, as well as a ban on any transactions with property and investments; suspension of activities on the territory of the Russian Federation of legal entities under their control, as well as of powers in the boards of directors or other management bodies of organizations registered in the territory of the Russian Federation.

The law is being adopted in connection with the growing Russophobia and open anti-Russian policies of a number of states, “said Deputy Foreign Minister Yevgeny Ivanov, speaking in the State Duma.

At the same time, according to him, foreigners, except for US citizens, will still be able to adopt Russian orphans. The previously imposed ban on similar actions against American citizens is due to the fact that the Russian authorities are deprived of the opportunity to control the conditions in which children adopted in Russia live and are brought up, Ivanov added.
