The traveler and author of the blog “Alone in a Strange City” listed the main differences between Russian men and German men.
According to her observations, German men love to communicate, but they clearly respect personal boundaries and do not go beyond “small talk.” At work, they will never discuss colleagues or personal problems – psychotherapists exist for the latter. And, despite the tricks of employers to introduce team building everywhere, the Germans prefer to keep to themselves. Also, the author points out, it is almost impossible to make a German man angry – even if he is very worried, he will not publicly demonstrate emotions.
Germans grow up early – unlike Italians, many of whom live with their parents until they are 30 or more years old, they set off on their own right after school, having already determined clear life plans – where they will work, how much they can earn when they get married (and even – which nursing home they will go to if such a need arises). Unlike many Russians, Germans are not prejudiced against blue-collar professions. On the contrary: dual training (Duales Studium) is considered an excellent way to start a career, in which a couple of days a week are devoted to classes at a technical school, and the rest to practice at an enterprise.
Germans do not like to spend extra, buy cheap things or chase fashion. However, investing in your own health, education or travel is considered very appropriate spending.
Spontaneous actions or decisions based on intuition are not typical for Germans. They prefer to calculate everything, think carefully, and better yet, consult a lawyer. However, they are not accustomed to stopping halfway – a carefully thought-out task is always completed.
Getting married in a fit of passion is not about the Germans. They get married quite late – on average from the age of 34. They approach the choice of a wife rationally, and view the relationship as a partnership: it is important for them that the companion has the same level of education, certain professional achievements and similar views.
