Since the searches and first arrests in the Metastasis case took place in December 2023, the security risk of Chief State Attorney Diana Salazar would be extremely cautious. In June of last year, before the Metastases investigation was published, the prosecutor received a threatening video message on her WhatsApp account, so the MUP ordered increased security for her. At the time, intelligence teams were said to be working to find those responsible.

Ecuadorian laws guarantee the safety of citizens, but unfortunately not everyone can feel that way at a time when organized crime is taking to the streets.

The state is committed to providing security to those who not only lead Metastases investigations, but have directly participated in the investigations of cases such as Mito 2012-2016, Odebrecht, Dhruv helicopters, the kidnapping of Fernando Balda, Caminito, Secom, Pedernales Hospital, Las Torres, Sinohydro, among others.
