I have known the world of justice for many years. Because of these things in my life, I learned to type at the age of ten. Then my father dictated punishments for my work, which I typed on an old “Adler” typewriter. I obviously had no idea of the seriousness of what I was writing.

These are the five highlights of the Metastasis case, a trial that investigates a ‘criminal enterprise’

Years passed and my father was promoted to Judge of the Supreme Court of Guayaquil at the initiative of the Supreme Court Judge, Gonzalo Zambrana P., who thought that the above sentences were very good. My father remained in that position until 1988, when his mandate expired, he had no contacts in the then Supreme Court and was not re-elected. He intended to return to judicial service as a civil judge, but did not receive the votes. Long story short, he died a year after he left the Supreme Court. He (we survived) with the reserve funds of the Ecuadorian Social Security Institute, IESS, (I was still a student). His economy was never good. He lived on his salary. A week before his death, he fell ill. And we paid for the clinic thanks to the help of his sister Lola, who came from abroad.

This story, which I rarely tell, has only the purpose of showing that the honesty of judges was, is and will be possible, and that honest judges have no possibility of great comforts or significant savings. But that is the price of honesty that some judges now seem unwilling to pay.

Solanda Goyes will join the plenary session of the Judicial Council in place of Xavier Muñoz

A recent raid revealed that the former judge lived in a house that looked like it belonged to a famous artist.

The chats of the aptly named “Metastasis” case, published by the State Attorney’s Office, reveal a level of corruption that was unimaginable due to its depth, breadth of scope and its very origin.

It is up to the state… to guarantee our rights and enable us to live in peace.

One person clearly had exceptional influence because of his power to purchase officials and individuals. On top of all that, it turned out that some judges who release alleged criminals in alarming cases are not necessarily corrupt, but endangered.

The Attorney General has the merit of showing us the depth of the Ecuadorian problem through the chats that are published.

Technically, chats are not synonymous with a court conviction, but they provide valuable information for an investigation.

Must we remain in lamentation? A thousand times not. We have to re-emerge as a society. We citizens must fight to dig a path that leads us to prosperity through ethics, educating ourselves more and more, deepening civility in schools and colleges, nurturing self-esteem in our children and youth at home and in study centers. We must give importance to spirituality, however cheesy it may seem.

For the second time, the prosecution calls on the version of lawyer Leandro Norer and others in the case of Metastasis

It is up to the state to fulfill its role as a guarantor of our rights and enable us to live in peace.

There is always time to re-emerge, to redirect paths. We must represent in all spaces that it is worthy of respect. Success is not a luxury. Success has many manifestations, among them: consistency with values and a decent struggle to appear. I’m convinced. (OR)
