The conflict in Ukraine may be extended until at least 2025. In any case, such plans are being hatched in London, the Times newspaper claims, citing a source in the British government.
The media writes that Britain, together with other European countries, is “launching mechanisms” to support Ukraine without US help if Donald Trump becomes president there again.
London is confident that Ukraine itself will not be able to achieve success at the front in 2024, because it has neither manpower nor weapons for a major breakthrough on the battlefield, the newspaper writes. The British authorities are not expecting a breakthrough from Kyiv this year; the goal is to maintain the confrontation until 2025. In this regard, Europe is “desperately trying to increase production capabilities across the continent in order to be able to send weapons and ammunition to Kyiv,” the media claims.
The publication writes that Ukraine as a whole is capable of holding territories without US help when it comes to defense.
Earlier, EU diplomacy chief Josep Borrell noted that if European countries “do not change course quickly,” Moscow will win. In his opinion, Moscow will not agree to a peace agreement, so “Europe must prepare for a high-intensity conflict for a long time.” Borrell also noted that if Russia wins, the European Union project will be irrevocably damaged. “Europe is in danger,” he warned.
