Beglov canceled a concert on Palace Square as a sign of support for Belgorod residents

Alexander Beglov decided to cancel the concert on Palace Square in St. Petersburg as a sign of support for residents of the Belgorod region who are being shelled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

“We survived a brutal crime. Civilians, including children, died from Nazi shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In this difficult hour, St. Petersburg residents feel a sense of solidarity with Belgorod residents. We express our condolences to the families of the victims and extend a helping hand. Our hospitals are ready to treat victims. St. Petersburg will provide the necessary support in the restoration of the city – residential facilities and infrastructure. Petersburg with Belgorod!” said Beglov in a conversation with the governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov.

According to the governor of St. Petersburg, in half a day he received dozens of requests from residents of the Northern capital with a request to abandon the planned night holiday concert on Palace Square.

“I am sure that all of St. Petersburg will share this decision as a sign of support,” emphasized Alexander Beglov.

At the same time, the governor stated that all children’s parties during the holidays will be held as scheduled. “We are canceling the night concert, we won’t let the children ruin the holiday,” Beglov noted.

The day before, the center of Belgorod was attacked from Ukraine by two Vilkha missiles with a cassette part and Vampire MLRS rockets. Most of the missiles were intercepted by air defense systems, but the cassettes fell on the city. 24 people were killed, including four children, and the number of injured reached 107. More than 30 multi-storey buildings, social and infrastructure facilities were damaged in the city. Throughout today, missile alarms were sounded again in Belgorod itself. Various settlements of the Belgorod region are being shelled.
