Greens are a healthy food. It contains a large amount of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and enzymes that help the body break down fats, proteins and carbohydrates. Greens also help remove waste and toxins from the body, says Ekaterina Kurbatova, an expert on the Arimed telemedicine consultation portal.
The expert told Pravda.Ru readers that among the most beneficial types of greens for health are the following:
— Parsley: it has a lot of vitamin C, improves digestion and strengthens the immune system.
— Dill: it has a beneficial effect on digestion and immunity.
— Lettuce leaves: they are rich in vitamins and minerals, help improve blood composition and lower blood pressure.
– Arugula: it has an antispasmodic and disinfecting effect, helps in the treatment of stomach ulcers.
– Thyme: it helps improve bowel function and has dietary properties.
However, some types of greens can be unhealthy in certain cases. For example, if you have heart disease or high blood pressure, it is recommended to exclude celery and cilantro from your diet, as they contain vitamin K, which can promote blood clotting.
“Some greens may contain nitrates, which can be harmful to health if consumed in excess, especially for infants and pregnant women. It’s also important to be aware that greens may contain pesticides or other contaminants, so it’s a good idea to rinse and treat them well before eating. Fresh herbs are the most useful, however, dried or frozen ones retain their beneficial properties,” the expert explained.
