Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said there is “no difference” between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Adolf Hitler. Thus, he commented on the actions of the Israeli military in the Gaza Strip, Interfax writes.
“What is the difference between you and Hitler? They will still make us miss Hitler. Is what Netanyahu is doing any less than what Hitler did? No,” Anadolu quotes Erdogan as saying.
He also added that Israel’s response to the Hamas attack on October 7 “destroyed all values of humanity.”
The Prime Minister of Israel, as reported by The Times of Israel, in turn, said that “Erdogan, who is committing genocide against the Kurds and imprisoning a world record number of journalists who oppose his rule, is the last person who can preach morality.”
“The Israel Defense Forces is the most moral army in the world, fighting and destroying the most despicable and brutal terrorist organization in the world, Hamas, which has committed crimes against humanity, while Erdogan praises it and hosts its leaders,” Netanyahu said.
Israeli government minister Benny Gantz, in turn, called Erdogan’s statements “a blatant distortion of reality and a desecration of the memory of the Holocaust.”
