Aksenov: Simferopol Airport will not open until the end of the Northern Military District

Simferopol airport will remain closed until the end of the special military operation for security reasons, the head of Crimea Sergei Aksenov told the Rossiya-24 TV channel.

“The Simferopol airport will not be open until the end of the Northern Military District due to reasons related to flight safety, first of all. But I think that before the start of the season, positive changes will still occur on the line of combat contact,” he said.

According to him, the main route for tourists remains the Crimean Bridge. There is no mass passenger transport traffic along the land corridor through new regions yet. However, the head of the republic is confident that it will become popular “literally within one week after the goals of the special operation are achieved.”

Let us remind you that the operation of airports in Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, Anapa, Gelendzhik, Elista, Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Voronezh and Simferopol was suspended at the beginning of the special operation. The only operating air hub in the Southern Federal District is Sochi Airport.

The administration of the Krasnodar region recently suggested that Krasnodar International Airport could begin operating again after a test flight on December 15. However, the decision to allow Krasnodar airport to operate has not yet been announced.
