The cardiologist listed the non-obvious symptoms of heart failure

Oksana Nilova, a cardiologist from the Tver State Medical University clinic, named the reasons for the development of heart failure and mentioned its non-obvious symptoms.

In an interview with RuNews24.Ru, she emphasized that we will mainly talk about the chronic form of the disease. The chronic form is the most common and will continue to spread, according to the doctor. The doctor explained that the main causes of this disease are coronary heart disease and arterial hypertension. There are also less common causes: cardiomyopathy and heart defects. The prevalence of arterial hypertension is high – half of patients encounter it when visiting a doctor.

Nilova noted that today experts not only discuss heart failure with reduced ejection fraction, but also use analysis with preserved ejection fraction. The prognosis in both cases is not the most favorable: the incidence of complications and mortality will increase.

The doctor named the most common symptoms of heart failure as fatigue, shortness of breath, as well as swelling of the ankles and rapid heartbeat. She noted that sometimes specialists do not pay due attention to these symptoms and make an incorrect diagnosis. Patients with these symptoms should undergo a detailed examination, Nilova concluded.
